๐Ÿ”„ Betting Odds Converter & Bookmaker Margin Calculator

Betting Odds Converter, Implied Probability & Bookmaker Margin Calculator

Use the Danny.bet Odds Converter to convert betting prices between decimal, fractional and American formats and instantly calculate the implied probability represented by the odds.

The page also includes a Bookmaker Margin Calculator for analysing complete betting markets, calculating overround and estimating no-vig probabilities and fair decimal odds.

Both tools are designed to explain sportsbook pricing and make odds easier to compare across Canadian and international betting markets. They do not predict sporting results or guarantee that a wager offers value.

๐Ÿ“Š Two betting price tools in one place

Convert an individual betting price with the Odds Converter, or enter every outcome from the same market to analyse bookmaker margin, overround and estimated fair odds.

Betting Odds Converter

Accepted formats include decimal odds such as 2.75, fractional odds such as 7/4 and American odds such as +175 or -120. Decimal odds may use either a point or comma, for example 2.75 or 2,75.

Converted Odds

Enter a betting price and select Convert Odds to view the equivalent decimal, fractional and American odds.

Implied Probability

0.00%

Odds conversion and implied probability calculations are mathematical estimates for informational purposes. They do not predict sporting outcomes or establish whether a price represents betting value.

How to Convert Betting Odds

Enter the price displayed by the sportsbook and either allow the converter to detect the format automatically or select the format manually. The same underlying betting price is then displayed as decimal, fractional and American odds.

๐Ÿ”ข
Decimal Odds

Widely used in Canada and international betting markets and show the total potential return per unit staked.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
American Odds

Positive and negative moneyline prices widely used across North American sports betting.

โž—
Fractional Odds

Traditional fractional prices such as 5/2, 7/4 and 10/11 commonly associated with UK and Irish betting.

Changing the display format does not change the underlying betting price. Decimal 2.50, fractional 3/2 and American +150 are equivalent prices.

Example conversion

Decimal 2.50 = fractional 3/2 = American +150 = 40.00% implied probability.

What Is Implied Probability?

Implied probability converts a betting price into the percentage represented by those odds. It provides a simple way to understand how strongly an individual outcome has been priced.

For decimal odds, the calculation is:

Implied Probability Formula

1 รท Decimal Odds ร— 100

Decimal odds of 2.50 therefore represent an implied probability of 40%.

Implied probability from one selection should not be confused with a margin-free estimate of the event’s true probability. Bookmaker margin is measured across the complete market rather than from one price in isolation.

Bookmaker Margin, Overround & Fair Odds Calculator

An individual odds conversion tells you the implied probability represented by one price. To analyse the sportsbook’s pricing across an entire market, you need to enter every possible outcome from the same market.

The Bookmaker Margin Calculator adds the implied probabilities together, calculates the overround and proportionally removes that margin to provide estimated no-vig probabilities and fair decimal odds.

Enter the complete market

For an Over/Under market, enter both outcomes. For a standard football 1X2 market, select three outcomes and enter the Home, Draw and Away prices. Missing an outcome can produce an underround and misleading results.

Calculate Bookmaker Margin and Fair Odds

Enter every possible outcome from the same betting market.
For example, enter 1.91 and 1.91 for both sides of a two-way market, or select three outcomes for a football Home/Draw/Away market. Decimal odds may use either a point or comma.

Outcome Bookmaker Odds Implied Probability No-Vig Probability Fair Decimal Odds
The combined implied probability is below 100%. This creates an underround rather than a normal positive bookmaker margin. Check that every possible outcome has been entered.
No-vig probabilities and fair odds are calculated by proportionally normalising the implied probabilities so that the complete market totals 100%. They are mathematical estimates rather than predictions of the true probability of an outcome.

What Is Bookmaker Margin?

Bookmaker margin, also known as overround, describes the amount by which the combined implied probabilities of all outcomes in a market exceed 100%.

Consider a simple two-way market where both outcomes are priced at decimal odds of 1.91.

Selection 1 - 1.91 Implied probability: approximately 52.36%.
Selection 2 - 1.91 Implied probability: approximately 52.36%.
104.72% Total Implied Probability

The two prices total approximately 104.72%, producing an overround of about 4.72%.

A lower calculated overround generally means less margin has been built into that particular market, although it does not by itself determine sportsbook quality or whether an individual wager represents value.

No-Vig Probability and Fair Odds

The calculator proportionally normalises the implied probabilities so that the complete market totals 100%. The resulting figures are displayed as no-vig probabilities.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Implied Probability

The percentage represented directly by the sportsbook's displayed price.

โž• Overround

The percentage by which the combined market exceeds 100%.

โš–๏ธ No-Vig Probability

A proportional adjustment after removing the calculated market margin.

๐ŸŽฏ Fair Decimal Odds

Decimal prices calculated from the normalised no-vig probabilities.

Fair odds are not predictions

Removing the overround mathematically does not reveal the objective true probability of an event. It simply provides a margin-adjusted version of the prices entered into the calculator.

How to Use the Bookmaker Margin Calculator

The calculator needs the complete set of prices from one betting market. Entering only one selection cannot produce a meaningful bookmaker margin because the overround is calculated from the combined implied probability of all possible outcomes.

  1. Select the number of possible outcomes in the market.
  2. Choose decimal, fractional or American odds.
  3. Enter the sportsbook price for every possible outcome.
  4. Add or edit the outcome names if required.
  5. Select Calculate Margin.
  6. Review the total implied probability and bookmaker overround.
  7. Compare the calculated no-vig probabilities and fair decimal odds.

For example, a football 1X2 market requires three prices - Home, Draw and Away. A two-way tennis moneyline requires both players, while an Over/Under market requires the prices for both sides of the selected line.

Why Compare Bookmaker Margins?

Sportsbooks can price the same event differently. Looking only at one selection may therefore hide differences in the overall structure of the market.

Calculating the overround allows you to compare how much margin is built into complete markets across different sportsbooks. In general, a lower overround indicates tighter overall pricing, although the best available price for the individual selection you want to back remains important.

Calculate Potential Betting Returns

The Odds Converter and Bookmaker Margin Calculator analyse betting prices rather than stakes and payouts. To calculate how much a wager could return, use the separate Danny.bet Sports Betting Calculator.

Responsible Use of Betting Tools

Odds converters and margin calculators can make sportsbook mathematics easier to understand, but neither tool changes the uncertainty of the underlying sporting event.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Keep the Numbers in Context

A higher potential return does not make a wager more likely to win, and a low-margin market does not remove betting risk.

Use an affordable betting budget, avoid increasing stakes to recover losses and use available account controls when additional limits are needed.

โ“ Frequently Asked Questions

What does a betting odds converter do?

A betting odds converter translates the same sportsbook price between decimal, fractional and American formats. The Danny.bet converter also calculates the implied probability represented by the price.

What odds format is common in Canada?

Decimal odds are widely used by Canadian bettors, while American odds are also common across North American sports betting. Many international sportsbooks additionally support fractional odds.

Can I use either a point or comma with decimal odds?

Yes. Decimal values such as 1.91 and 1,91 are interpreted as the same betting price by these tools.

What is implied probability?

Implied probability converts a betting price into a percentage. For example, decimal odds of 2.50 represent an implied probability of 40%.

What is bookmaker margin or overround?

Bookmaker margin is the amount by which the combined implied probabilities of every outcome in the same market exceed 100%.

How is bookmaker margin calculated?

Convert the odds for every possible market outcome into implied probabilities, add those percentages together and subtract 100%. For example, a total implied probability of 104.72% represents an overround of approximately 4.72%.

What does an underround mean?

An underround occurs when the combined implied probability is below 100%. In this calculator it can also indicate that one or more possible market outcomes have not been entered.

What are no-vig probabilities?

No-vig probabilities are produced by proportionally adjusting the entered implied probabilities so that the complete market totals 100%.

What are fair odds?

The calculator converts its no-vig probabilities back into decimal prices. These fair odds are mathematical reference values based on the entered market rather than predictions of the true outcome probabilities.

Does a lower bookmaker margin mean better odds?

A lower overround generally indicates tighter overall market pricing, but it does not guarantee that every individual selection is available at a better price. Individual odds should still be compared directly.

Can the odds converter tell me whether a bet offers value?

No. It converts the price and calculates implied probability only. Determining theoretical betting value requires an independent assessment of the probability of the outcome.

Can I calculate potential winnings on this page?

The separate Danny.bet Sports Betting Calculator can be used to estimate stakes, potential returns and profit for supported bet types.
